Excercise is AWESOME as it causes endorphins, and other feel good chemicals in your body. I go to my local gym almost regardless of my pain most days.

Everything both Dr MDK and Dr Babus mention is on the ball, and very good advice. Even for people not in pain, excercise will actually help in the event of injury. Eating healthy, and drinking water more than say cola, and not smoking may sounf like common sense things... Also not drinking helps, as the body has an amazing abaility to to do much more than we give it credit for...
