"Tears for Haiti" is an original piano composition by Cynthia Kendall. This song was composed in response to being deeply saddened and moved by the devastating affects of the recent earthquake in Haiti The news is so sad out of Haiti and there are plenty of places to go to view images of the current situation. I wanted to feature images that reflected the beauty of the people and land. I came across a wonderful organization called Vassar Haiti Project http://projects.vassar.edu/haiti/, Since 2002 Vassar Haiti Project has sold Haitian art to raise money that goes to support education and sustainability for the village of Chermaitre, located in the rural northwest of Haiti. Currently they are supporting the building of a seven-room primary school for this village. The featured artwork allows us to see through the eyes of artists, that lived in the Port-au-Prince area, the beauty of the people and country of Haiti in a way that only they could envision and capture.
